If you wish to sell your music collection or parts of it to a record store, the Vinyl Dinosaur is more than welcome to review it, large or small, and assess its value.  We generally buy 33 RPM and 45 RPM records, but we also consider CDs, cassettes, and 8-track tapes.  

Please note that we do not purchase 78 RPM records unless they are of the rare blues, jazz, or rock genre.  We also do not buy CLASSICAL music or COUNTRY music as these genres are  unfortunately not popular enough to sell

Our criteria for purchasing collections is NEED and CONDITION.  The majority of music collections contain a large amount of what is known as "commons," meaning titles that there are an overabundance of in the current market due to their popularity when they were released.

Some genres of music that we are looking for are Classic Rock, Metal, Punk, New Wave, Alternative, 90's Era Rock, Rhythm & Blues, Soul, Funk, Blues, Reggae, Jazz, Hip Hop & Rap, and Soundtracks (particularly 70s & 80s movies)

Our assessment procedure involves checking the condition of the media and the sleeves, and also pulling out the lesser or non-commons upon which we base an offer for you to consider. We do not always make offers on collections or will sometimes make an offer only on a portion of it, which is generally due to commonality and condition.

No appointment is necessary, but please call ahead (732-831-7707) before bringing in your collection so that we know that you are on your way.  For larger collections we can make arrangements for us to come to you.
